Insert funny headline

Last week I read (what I thought was) the most hilarious Onion headline of all time: Cost Of Freedom At All-Time High, until I just checked in with them and found: It Only Tuesday. (Oh, if only I had posted this yesterday, it would have been that much funnier...)

I'm terrible at coming up with titles. When I finished my thesis, my advisor told me I needed (to paraphrase) a kickass title. I sent him about 10 variations and we decided on Color and Artistic Identity: Whistler, Van Gogh, and Yellow. Not bad, I guess. Now it seems likely that I'm going to teach a class in the spring on Contemporary Women Artists, and I have been informed that I should come up with a good title. Which came as a disappointment to me, because I was pretty much hoping we could go with Contemporary Women Artists. This is the only lame-ass stuff I could come up with:
You've Come a Long Way, Baby: Cont. Women Artists
Paintin' and Sculptin' in a Man's World
Great Women Artists? Let's See!

Help!!!!

Color, Balance and Perspective: An Overview of Artists in High Heels.

Nuthin'---I got nothin'. My thesis title was eh -hem,
"An Evaluation of Surveillance Systems for Detection of Gonococcal Infections in Hillsborough County Florida".

So, yeah---titles are kinda not my thing. Good luck though! And its great to hear you're going to be teaching a class---you're such a smarty pants!

What in the H is Gonococcal? (:

I like the second title the best. Although the first is good and it might get alot of students attention.

That's great that you are going to be teaching a class. Are you super excited?

Neisseria gonococcal infections cause---gonorrhea! Yee-haw! Yep, I'm an expert on knowing how many people have the Clap. Oh, knowing me is ever astonishing, is it not?

I know as a man (and engineer) I probably shouldn't jump into the world of art and women and I promise I'm not sexist. I was just trying to stretch the titles as much as possible towards being ridiculous...and hopefully funny.

Contemporary Women Who Paint Circles Around the Boys

or similarly,

Contemporary Women Painting the Boys into a Corner

Contemporary Women Artists: We Paint More Than Our Toes

This one is already taken, so you might have some copyright problems, but
Her Arts

Art in the Color of She

That's all I have for now. Hope I didn't offend.

Hee!
I like "Contemporary Women Artists: Painting Men into the corner." Nice one, Drew!! :)

How about:

Anything you can do I can do better: an examination of contemporary female artists

I do like We paint more than our toes...

except that I've never met a professional "aesthetician" who didn't insist on saying that we "polish" our nails...

How about

Break it, don't shake it: Contemporary Women Artists bust up boundaries and molds.

Or

Ars and the Real Girl(s):
Contemporary Women Artists

Oh jeez, I just wrote a hilarious and entirely inappropriate title for the class, and I had to censor myself!

Drew said...

I saw it before it was censored and it was absolutely hilarious! Definitely inappropriate for a class title though.

No fair that Drew saw the impropriety and I did not. I insist on a pm which reveals just how base you are, K....

I read the first line of your post and the first thing that popped in to my mind was the song from Team America "freedom isn't free, it costs a f'in fee ..."

KHM said...

Trust me: the censored title was definitely the best.
